A man of integrity, funny, loving, opinionated, hardworking protector, provided and confident are all words that describe Clifton Clayton, Jr.
Clifton “Dilly” Clayton Jr. was born on December 24th 1946 in Bolton, Ms. to the late Mr. Clifton & Julie Mae Clayton Sr. On Friday, April 29th God whispered “servant well done” and Dilly walked into eternity surrounded by his family and several close friends.
On Clifton’s journey loved ones have gone home to be there to welcome him to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by parents Clifton & Julia Mae Clayton, Sr., 14 sisters and brothers, two daughters Julia Ann Clayton, Margaret Clayton, three sons Jerry Mason, Robert Holmes, Michael Clayton, one grandson Mark Kency Jr., one great grandson Nehemiah Holmes, and one great great granddaughter Harmonii Walker
Dilly met his lifelong partner of 58 years Mrs. Minnie Pearl Walton. The two were united in Holy Matrimony on December 25th, 1964. To this wonderful union 10 children were born, reared and nurtured. And the lifelong legacy of Clifton and Minnie formed into 5 generations.
Dilly was a very hardworking man. He developed the title as “The Best Mechanic around” and he held that title until his health began to fail him in 2020. He worked Reed’s Inc. for 25 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Eventually, being a Maintenance man and Mechanic for many years lead to many of his lifelong friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy to his beautiful wife Minnie Pearl Clayton, two daughters Dorothy Kency & Kathleen Clayton, four sisters Bennie Holmes, Clifton Clayton, lll, James Curtis Clayton, Elvis (Debra) Tucker of Austin TX. six brothers JW Clayton Sr., James (Cester) Clayton, Chester (Debra) Clayton, Gene Clayton, Michael Clayton & David Clayton, two sisters Minnie Lee Clayton & Jerlean Clayton, and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friend.
