Ethel Charleston

d. May 10, 2017

Ethel Mae Charleston was born on December 25, 1928 in McComb, Mississippi to the late Ellis and Ada Weatherspoon.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Refuge Temple Pentecostal Church where she was a long time member of the usher board.

Ethel worked at Kolb’s Cleaners for many years until she retired after her health began to fail.

She was the proud mother of nine children, five boys and four girls.  She always enjoyed family gatherings with her grandchildren around her, loving each one the same.  She also enjoyed taking them to church with her every Sunday.  It put a smile on her face to see them grow up and become adults and take their children to church so they could learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She always had open arms and a heart filled with a lot of love, joy and peace to whomever came to visit at her home.  She would always invite people to her church functions because that was something she loved and took pride in.

She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters, Josie McCarty, Carolyn Anderson (George), Christian Fontenot and Gale Parker (Dewitte); sons, Robert Charleston, Jr., Melvin Charleston (Frankie), Ronnie Charleston, Bruce Charleston, and Bernard Charleston; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins friends and church family.

She was preceded in death her husband, Robert C. Charleston, Sr., son Ronnie Charleston, parents, seven brothers and three sisters .
