James Butler Hinkle, Jr. was born to James Butler Hinkle and Pearl Slater Hinkle on March 21, 1951 in Vicksburg, MS.
Later in life James accepted Christ as his savior. He joined and attended Greater Clark Street Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Male Choir.
James attended Jim Hill High School. After graduating he went to Job Source in Seattle, Washington and to look for work.
He worked for the Jackson Public School System, Capital Security and for Aerospace Engineering until he retired.
James loved his family and it wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He had a personality like no other. He liked having fun and making people laugh. He was the life of the party.
James departed this life at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
He was preceded in death by: his father and mother, James and Pearl Hinkle; his brother, Willie George Hinkle and his sister, Johnnie Mae Brumfield.
He leaves to cherish is memories: his lifelong partner of 42 years, Jearlean Franklin of Jackson, MS; one son, Deontay Franklin of Jackson, MS; two daughters, Pearl Franklin of Jackson, MS and Shantay Franklin of Jackson, MS; three brothers, Curtis (Susie) Hinkle of Bentonia, MS, Perry (Joyce) Hinkle of Memphis, TN and Freddie (Shelia) Hinkle of Jackson, MS; two sisters, Susie Catchings of Chicago, IL and Brenda Weatherspoon of Jackson, MS; a special daughter, Angie Horton; a special niece, Michelle Brumfield; granddaughter, Ashlely Hinkle, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
