Kelly Green

Kelly Tyrone “Big Poppa” Green was born on July 25, 1958 in Chicago, IL to the late and beloved Kelly Green, Sr. and Elzora Mallett Green. Tyrone was the only child born from this union. He attended Our Lady Help of Christians Elementary School and was baptized at an early age from the affiliated church.

Tyrone was a hard worker, he entered into the work field at the age of 16 as he worked for Leaf Brand Candy Company in Chicago IL. From Leaf Brand, he went on over to RC Cola where he worked over 20 plus years before leaving Chicago and transitioning his journey to his beloved home state in Mississippi. Whenever he got a chance to hit I-57 headed to Mississippi, he would sometimes say, “Mom, I will be back on Monday, I am going to Mississippi for the weekend”. Tyrone loved cars, especially the older models and bodies. But he loved nothing more than playing and listening to the blues and being with his family.

Tyrone received his calling from this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his loving parents who prepared a special place for him to rejoin them as a unit. His cousin but at the heart “Brother Lovell” and many others whom he loved so dearly.

Tyrone leaves to carry on his legacy: his beloved wife, Regina Thomas Green; eldest daughter Tyretha Green; three sons, Areatt (Calinda), Tyrone Latrone (LaToya), and Rafael (Lakendra); his baby girl, Kellie Chanel; 17 great grandchildren, Kyiare, Teira, Kameron, Javaciya, Javion, Shania, Brianna, Tyrone Jr, Jadaa, Jakayla, Arlin, Tyrianna, Rafael Jr, Nyasia, Azari, M’Kiyah and M’Kiyra; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
