Mae Spann

Ms. Mae Ella Spann was born on October 22, 1957, in Clinton, MS to Ms. Geneva Spann and Mr. Dank Davis.  She was the second oldest of her mother’s children.  Both parents preceded her in death.

Mae Ella began her education at Capers School for the Deaf and after the closure of the school she became a student at MS School for the Deaf.

Mae Ella was a Jehovah Witness for many years.  Later, before her health began to fade, she was a studying member at Philadelphia Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Stacy Brown.

Mae Ella loved talking about her daughter Yolanda F. Spann, who preceded her in death.  She was such a cheerful and loving giver. If she could give you anything, it made her smile just to see people smile.  Her daughter and grandchildren were her world.  She loved to communicate with everyone no matter if they could sign or not.   She loved talking and collecting pictures.  Fishing and working on fishing poles were her relaxing time, but most importantly she loved reading and highlighting her bible.

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, around 4:30 a.m. at UMMC Ms. Mae Ella Spann heard the Master’s voice saying, “I’ve went and prepared that place for you, come home my child to joy and no more sickness and pain.”

Mae Ella leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Allison Spann (Maurice) of Jackson, MS; three granddaughters, Wil’Asia Esco, Eriyal Spann, and Charisma Bruce of Jackson, MS; one grandson, Eran Spann of Jackson, MS; one sister, Mary Spann of Jackson, MS; one brother, Joseph Spann of Jackson, MS.  She was preceded in death by: her mother, Ms. Geneva Spann; sister, Connie Spann; two brothers, Earl Spann and Joe C. Spann; and her ever so loving daughter whom she missed so much, Ms. Yolanda F. Spann.
