Minnie Hinkle

Mrs. Minnie Lee Hinkle was born on January 3, 1960 to Mrs. Georgia Brown Portis in Tupelo, MS.

In 1966 she and her brother Robert Thomas (deceased) went to Kansas City, Kansas to live with great uncle, George Thomas and Aunt, Doris, who later adopted her and her late brother Robert Thomas.

Minnie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Kansas City.

In 1976 she moved to Jackson, MS to live with her mother, Mrs. Georgia Brown Portis.

In 1977 she joined Greater Clark Street Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until she became disabled.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Curtis Hinkle on April 25, 1981and to this union three loving children were born: Curtis M. Hinkle, Jr. Aaron J. Hinkle and Alicia M. Hinkle.

Minnie graduated from Wingfield High School and American College of Nursing. She worked at Hudspeth Regional center for 18 ½ years until she became disabled and had to retire in 2003.

Minnie departed this life on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, MS.

Minnie was preceded in death by: great uncle, George Thomas; brother, Robert Thomas; stepfather, Charles Portis; and son, Curtis Hinkle, Jr.

Minnie leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Ms. Georgia Brown Portis of Jackson, MS; son, Aaron J. Hinkle of Jackson, MS; daughter, Alicia M. Hinkle of Jackson, MS; brothers, Chester Portis of Jackson, MS and James M. Casey of Tupelo, MS; sister-in-law, Brenda Weatherspoon of Jackson, MS; aunts uncles, step-brother, sister, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
