Vickie Marie McNeill

Vickie Marie McNeill was born on August 6, 1950, in Canton, Mississippi to the late Christine Alberta Caldwell Mabry and the late Artry Mabry, Jr. Affectionately known as “Chief,” she was the first female police officer for the Canton Police Department where she served as the Assistant Chief and Chief of Police before serving as Alderwoman for Ward 5. After attending Rogers High School, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Jackson State University. A longstanding member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under Dr. W.L. Johnson, Sr., she accepted Christ at a young age. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Bernard Mabry.

Her journey on this Earth was marked by love, service, and an unwavering faith in God, who called her home on August 10th. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of family, friends, and those whose lives she touched. She will long be remembered for the way she lived and for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who knew her. A longtime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Vickie’s dedication to her faith and her desire to serve others epitomized her joyful and generous nature. Although her physical presence will no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who cherished her. May her memory be a blessing and may we carry forward her legacy of love and service.

Vickie is survived by her daughter, Dr. Kimual Snow and her son-in-law, Norman Snow of Atlanta, Georgia and her son, Bedford McNeill and her daughter-in-law, Samantha McNeill of Meridian, Mississippi. She is also survived by her grandchildren Norman Kelvin Snow, II, Corey Alexander Snow, Jhymir McNeill, Patrick Davis, Jr., Mark Davis, Keoshia Yarborough, Jacob Moore, Demondre Scott, and Benjamin Stewart. She will be especially missed by her siblings Larry James Mabry of Houston, Texas, Roy Mabry of Ontario, California, Patricia Hawkins of Byram, Mississippi, and Linda Carol Mabry of Jamestown, North Carolina, and a host of relatives and friends.
