Maggie Kelly

Maggie Bell Cavett Kelly was born on January 12, 1935 in Clinton, MS to the late Maude Taylor Cavett and Ike Cavett. Maggie, affectionately known as “Sister” was the fifth of twelve children born from this union.

Maggie Bell accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was baptized at St Paul United Methodist Church.  In her young adult life she united with Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church where she remained until her health failed.  At Pilgrim Rest, she served as a mother of the church, choir member, treasurer and member of the church mission.  She loved and served faithfully her church and pastor.

Maggie bell was educated at the St. Paul School.  She enjoyed going on family trips.  She was also a part of the United Family Organization where she traveled to many states every year.

Maggie Bell was married in holy matrimony to Willie Kelly, Jr. until his death.  Although no children were born to this union, Maggie Bell opened her home and heart to Willie Ruth Lee and Arthur Murriel and to all her family as caregiver to their children.

Maggie Bell was preceded in death by: her parents, Maude and Ike Kelly; godson, Arthur Murriel; brothers, Kenneth Kimmons, A. C. Smith, Fred Garner, Ike Cavett, Jr. George Cavett, and Willie C. Cavett; and sisters, Alice Bolton and Irene Blocker.

Maggie Bell leaves to cherish her memories: a loving sister, Marie (Willie) Johnson of Clinton, MS, brother, Albert (Lula) Cavett of Jackson, MS; goddaughter, Willie Ruth Lee of Clinton, MS, special niece and nephew who lived with her, Reshanna Shelby and Jermalleo Aldridge; caregivers, Jackie Adams,  Chanta Adams, Tomekeyah Adams, Rella Bolton; special cousins, Eddie (Dolly) Taylor and Rettie Flowers of Jackson, MS; sisters-in-law, Rosie Cavett of Jackson, MS, Vinnie Kelly, Annie M.
