Nancy Jackson

Nancy Rachel Henderson Jackson was born December 29, 1947 in Hinds County, MS to the late A. J. Henderson, Sr. and Georgianna Henderson.  She was preceded in death by; her brothers, A. C. Henderson, Robert Henderson, Sr. A. J. Henderson, Jr., Isaac Henderson and Calvin Robinson; and  three sisters, Evangelist Georgia M. Jimerson, Beverly Breakfield, and Patricia Robinson.

Nancy gave her life to Christ at an early age.  She was a member of New Jerusalem M. B. Church where she served in many capacities.  She loved to sing in the choir and her favorite song was “Jesus, How I Love to Call on Your Name”.  She was a faithful member until her health declined.

Nancy married Eddie Jackson March 8, 1969. She was a devoted wife and mother.  She had two son, Larry Jackson and Minister Jessie Sims (deceased) and one daughter Kecia Cavett (deceased).

Nancy was educated at Sumner Hill High School in Clinton, MS (Class of ‘64).  She furthered her education at Jackson State College, where she received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Education.

Nancy loved children and they loved her.  Her nieces and nephews adored her.  This led to her career as a teacher.  Her work career begin in the Delta  at Rolling Fork High School and then at Carver Jr. High School in Raymond.  Later she became an entrepreneur  and was the owner and operator of Jackson Laundromat  in West Jackson for over 35 years.

Nancy leaves to cherish in loving memory, her husband of 50 years, Eddie Jackson; one son, Larry Jackson;  sisters, Christine Daniel (William) of Chicago, IL, Annette D. Sanders (Lee), Mary H. Davis, and Edna Caston of Raymond, MS, Dorothy Caston of Austin, TX and Christine Thompson of Jackson, MS; four brothers, Jerome Henderson of Raymond, MS, Johnny Parker of Clinton, MS, Charles Caston of Chicago, IL, and Melvin Robinson of Madison, MS; three grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vera Whitaker,; special friends Sarah and Jean; and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
